Ability to Learn/Retain
We suggest that the ability to learn and retain is an important set of competencies required for most recruiters. This examines how assimilating new information and applying it yields results, and also showcases the ability to retain both formal and informal training.
Competencies Within Ability to Learn/Retain
Of the 13 competencies that are currently within Aspen’s assessment set related to this group, we are suggesting that at least these 7 are relevant towards most recruiters.

- Learns from Experience / Practice
- Self Aware of Learned Strengths
- Hones and Practices Learned Skills
- Trains Themselves
- Able to Retain using Techniques / Tools
- Able to Edit and Improve other People’s Work
Each competency can be transitioned into a question for performance evaluations or interviews. As an example, a question related to #6 could be – “What tricks or techniques have your learned to make your job easier or you more effective? How did you learn them?”
