Troubleshooting
We suggest that Troubleshooting is an important competency required for most recruiters. The reason Troubleshooting is important is that it examines the process of gathering information and accurately identifying the causes of problems in equipment or work processes in a timely manner.
Competencies Within Troubleshooting
Of the 5 competencies that are currently within Aspen’s assessment set related to Troubleshooting, we are suggesting that at least these 4 are relevant towards most recruiters.
- Troubleshoots at Current Environment Level
- Reacts Effectively to Unforeseen Problems
- Identifies Bottlenecks Effectively
- Handles Varying Degrees of Difficulty Well
Each competency can be transitioned into a question for performance evaluations or interviews. As an example, a question related to #3 could be – “Have you ever determined the cause of a bottleneck in a creation/design line or similar work process problem? How did you determine the cause?”
